Middle Ground

You breathe it out and you breathe it in
But feel the dark thoughts still pressing in
You feel the time warp and slip away
You let your mind steal another day
But there’s a comfort mixed with that fear
You won't be scared when you are not here
You've never been in a rush to leave
But simply don’t want to have to grieve anymore
You breathe it out and you breathe it in
But feel the darkness still pressing in
You feel it all till you can’t feel at all
You feel it all till you can’t feel at all
Then there’s comfort when you're numb to fear
But with no feelings why even be here?
We wouldn’t sing if there was no sound
But all these bouncing thoughts are far too loud
Why can’t we just find that middle ground
Oh why can’t we just find that middle ground anymore

I think being a human is good for me
I think that being a person’s just fine
I think being a human is good for me
Although I’d never have been first in line
I’ve got my sleep
And now I see
The value proposition of this whole thing
I’d sleep through everything if they’d let me be
I’d sleep through everything all the time
But my sleep eventually catches up to me
And I’ve got to wake up and be human sometimes
I’ve got my sleep
And now I see
The value proposition of this whole thing
I’ve got my sleep
I woke to see
The point of this whole time’s experiencing
I think being a human is good for me
I think being a person’s just fine
I think being a human could be good for me
Although I’d never have been first in line
